Cam, Sapa, Vietnam

This woman I met whilst traveling in Vietnam. I was trekking in Sapa which is in the north of Vietnam near the Chinese boarder. This mountain region is absolutely picture book worthy. You have rice terraces everywhere and in spring the flowers come out and give you a picture book scenery. The air is fresh and the streets are quiet. A pleasant change from busy Ho Chi Min (Saigon) and Hanoi. The traditional people in Sapa are called black hmong. They are famous for creating dresses out of hemp and dying it indigo blue hence their hands area always coloured. This particular lady offered to walk with me and protect me from the rain whilst trying to sell me one of her hand made purses. She walked alongside me with her baby on her back. After a while we crossed through her village which was down the mountain slope. That means she walks up every morning on the look out for some tourists. Tough lady. It was a absolute pleasure meeting her. A truly kind hearted and strong woman.

What is your name? Cam

What does happiness mean for you? To see the smile in my daughters face and to have enough money to support my husband and kids.

If you could grant yourself one wish, what would it be? To send my kids to university.

What is the most important thing in life? My family

What advise for life can you give me? Appreciate what you have, love your family its all you have.
This is Sapa, the beautiful natural north of Vietnam.
I met these guys at the home I was staying where we drank a lot of rice wine throughout the night.
The rough terrain in Sapa, yes I got dirty but hey thats the fun part.
The local market in Sapa, lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and all kinds of meat from Dog to Fish to insects
A friend I made in Sapa, enjoying the bicycle of a little boy he took it off. Sharing is caring so the motto of the people in Sapa.
The stairways to heaven, leading into the nothing.
The local primary school where kids get thought to count and their basic vietnamese. Lots of cute little faces
The local woman of Sapa and their natural beauty, her long hair is the reason for my photo. The colours contrast just beautifully the red, green and indigo blue.
Yes the people of Sapa dont care about the weather, the motorbike will always be taken out and driven through any terrain.
This is what I mentioned earlier, the local woman creating fabrics from hemp and dying it indigo blue.
A local street boy which cant afford to be in school, made him at least happy by giving him my lollipop.
